This is a series of multimedia sculptures crafted from HRT (hormone replacement therapy) bottles. HRT is a medicine used by some trans people as a part of gender transition. In a doctor’s office, these bottles are something medical, sterile, and alien, but for those of us who rely on them, they are sacred, messy, and mundane.
Trans healthcare and access to HRT is under constant threat. This can be seen in Boston, where Fenway Health, previously a major provider in trans care, recently ended HRT care for young adults under 19.
What does a world look like in which trans people have control over every part of our own care?
Where no state, no doctor, and no pharmaceutical company holds the tools of liberation hostage?
